Distinguished conductor Lorin Maazel leads the fifth annual Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2013. This year’s gala concert revolves around the works of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, both of whom would have celebrated their 200th birthday this year, and features German Canadian tenor soloist Michael Schade.

As part of ‘Europiano’, ARTE’s day dedicated to piano concertos, Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor – one of the most important works of German Romanticism – comes to life under the fingers of the great Martha Argerich. Her performance stands out not only for its virtuosity, but also for its expressive intensity, enriched by an almost chamber-music-like rapport between the piano and the orchestra.

Martha Argerich has been an outstanding Chopin interpreter for decades. In celebration of her 80th birthday on June 5 we present the exceptional pianist’s Complete Chopin Recordings on DG, available as a 5-CD + 1 Blu-ray audio set, and her recordings of Chopin’s solo works and concertos as a limited and numbered 5 LP box, combining the outstanding interpretations of Argerich with the best vinyl quality.

Classical music aficionados are in for a treat with this rare filmed performance by acclaimed pianist Martha Argerich. This recording of Agerich's 1982 concert features 12 pieces, including works from Mozart, Schuman, Ravel and Rachmaninov. Argerich also performs a number of duets with the aid of talented guest performers such as Mischa Maisky, Nicolas Economou and Nelson Freire.
